Fire Safety

Fire Safety is an important part of your daily routine; particularly in the summer months when working in the forest.

It is essential that you obey both your employers and the forest owner’s policies and procedures regarding fire safety while you are at work.

In most forest environments in Australia, at some stage of the year the potential for wildfire is present.

While much of the forest industry is focused upon wild fire, there are also the daily hazards of fire in a range of workplace situations.

These hazards include the heat/temperature that comes from machines and their exhaust systems that have been operated for continuous or long periods of time, and the handling of fuels and oils.

It is important that you observe the correct shut down and re-fuelling procedures if operating a machine to prevent any chance of starting a fire in the workplace.
