Fire fighting equipment

Fire equipment requirements may differ from one forest owner to another. In most cases there will be procedures in place for a response to a fire outbreak.

Before you start up the machine for work you must ensure the machine is fitted with the correct fire fighting equipment, and that it is operational. Note: You should also stay with the machine for 15 minutes after shut down (Fig 49).

It is important that you know how to effectively operate these tools, and with regular inspection ensure that they are in working order.

If you are not trained to fight fires then leave it to those that are!

What should you do if the machine catches fire?
