Bush Bans

If weather conditions are extreme a fire would be difficult to control. The forest owner will most likely implement a “Bush Ban”.

A Bush Ban is when you are not allowed to operate machines or vehicles in the forest for a period of time as a safety precaution against starting fires and also to prevent workers in the forest from becoming stranded if a fire starts in the area.

These bans may be called for a full day, or part of a day.

They are based on weather forecasts and observations from fixed weather stations across the region.

If you notice that conditions at your worksite are getting very hot and windy, you should check with your supervisor to make sure no bans have been called and advise of local conditions.
