Employees Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Responsibilities

You have a duty to your employer and others to take reasonable care and not put yourself or others at risk by your actions or omissions.

Under the (OH&S) Act, you have a duty to cooperate with the measures that your employer has developed to eliminate or reduce risks.

Following worksite procedures.

Safe work procedures ensure all workers are aware of the risks in their work tasks, and how to avoid injury or illness while doing these tasks.

Safe work procedures are a means of documenting the risks associated with a work task and the risk control steps for doing the task safely

Stay within safe working areas.

Don’t enter other operators work area without notice.

Obey the two dominant tree lengths safety rule.

Stay two dominant tree lengths away from other machine operators work area. 

Not entering anyone else’s work area.

Following the workplace safe operating procedure set out for the specific activity.

Potential falling objects are identified and reported

When entering a forest worksite or leaving a vehicle or machine, always conduct a visual hazard risk assessment for falling objects and report if hazard found.
