Recording

In your daily work tasks recording is an important way of passing information to appropriate personnel in regard to such things as:

• Keeping a check on productivity;
• Documenting accidents and incidents;
• Reporting hazards;
• Reporting faults (as in Fig 44);
• Recording or reporting  maintenance requirements.

In figure 44, the operator has noticed a hydraulic oil leak from the crane valve bank.

He will record the fault in a maintenance report form, then hand it to the site mechanic to have it fixed immediately.

Information about the hazards, associated risks and control measures need to be recorded with as much accuracy as possible to ensure that any changes that are needed can be made as soon as possible.
