Recreation sites

People value and use the forest for a variety of reasons (see Fig’s 58a and 58b for examples).

Recreational areas are valued and it is important to maintain these sites.

Forest operations near these areas strongly affect the public’s view of forest management and should be well presented, and safe at all times.

These considerations should be taken into account when establishing operating hours (particularly noise levels).

Recreation sites should not be damaged, and opportunities should not be stopped by logging operations.

Care should be taken when harvesting and using roads and tracks around these areas. Signs should be used at all times.
