Environmental Care

It is the responsibility of every person that enters the forest to look after all the different parts of the forest environment.

Parts of the environment are referred to as Environmental Care Principles and there are 9 of them. They are:

• Soil;
• Water quality;
• Cultural heritage;
• Flora and Fauna;
• Landscape values;
• Rubbish;
• Insects, Plants Pests and diseases;
• Water catchment and stream flow;
• Archaeological sites.

These 9 Environmental Care Principles have to be looked after in their own special way to maintain a healthy working environment.

Figure 53 (below) shows how diverse an environment can be.

The best way we can look after the environment is to understand the right and wrong way of working in the forest.
