Purpose of the code

The Code of Practice for Safety in Forest Operations has been developed between Government, Union and Employers.

It is practical approach to safety and is aimed at safeguarding you, the worker/contractor, and at the same time, gives guidance to employers regarding acceptable and safe work habits and practices.

This guidance provides safe measures that need to be taken to prevent injury to people working in forest operations.

Through the provision of the code, employers are required to provide and maintain:

• A safe working environment;
• A risk free working environment;
• Safe plant and safe system of work;
• Risk free plant and risk free system of work.
