Safety Considerations

Timber harvesting operations must be conducted in a safe manner at all times.

(OH&S) regulations, worksite policies and procedures must be followed by all forest workers and any person entering the forest.

Operate the Skidder safely and to its designed capabilities, forest conditions and changing weather patterns.

Prior to undertaking the Skidder work, employers and employees must identify any hazards that may arise because of the work activities and environment.

Assess the risks that these hazards might bring about, and implement appropriate controls and review regularly.

• Sink holes
• Gutters and ledges
• Side slope on snig tracks
• Fuel up and service site
• Overhead and underground power lines
• Logging areas to work first because of changing weather conditions
