The modern feller buncher is more comfortable and easier for the operator to work.

A feller buncher can be a tracked or wheeled machine as in figures (2 & 3) with a self levelling cabin and various types of cranes and felling heads.

The heads are usually matched to the machine determined by the size and type of trees it will be harvesting and bunching.

The tracked feller buncher offers a high level of traction in steep terrain, providing stability where a wheeled feller buncher may find some forest areas difficult to manage.

The wheeled feller buncher below is extremely efficient on flat terrain.

With the high speed saw disc, good ground speed and a competent operator, this is a high production machine capable of keeping two to three skidders working continuously.

It is becoming more common for both wheeled and tracked feller bunchers to be designed with levelling cabins (fig 1) for steep terrain to provide operator comfort and ease of work, which helps the operator keep tree felling production levels up to a standard.
